Call for Papers

More research calls for considering cultural values or contextualized gamification designs. With artificial intelligence and concepts like NeuroIS gamification is brought to the next level of engaging users when using and working with IS. Such design notions support developers in creating individualized gamification concepts and systems to foster positive behaviors. Finally, the concept of using game-like elements to change the behavior of users can be further found in other areas such as digital nudging, where different kinds of elements are used to trigger the intended behavior of users.

One goal of the workshop is to discuss how gamification concepts can be better adapted to satisfy what users need and want. This covers not only individualized gamification design with different groups of users in various context, it also advocates more studies on how to adapt gamification concepts to specific and new emerging technological contexts and/or cultures. In addition, we plan to further discuss how to design gamification concepts more individually by using artificial intelligence or related concepts in NeuroIS to explore possible ways to optimize gamification designs by arousing appropriate user attention, fostering personalized adaptive user engagement, and creativity for intelligent gamifications likely to be equipped with IoTs, robots, and smart devices in multiple domains.

Topics include but are not limited to:
• Concepts and empirical insights on individualized gamification concepts
• Artificial intelligence and gamification
• NeuroIS and gamification
• Analysis of user needs and preferences in gamification
• Role and meaning of context and culture in developing gamification concepts
• Motivational affordances and their role and meaning in gamification
• User adapted gamification concepts and their influences on user behavior
• Analysis of the meaning of competition and collaboration in gamification
• Digital nudging concepts that draw on mechanisms of gamification
